Rose gold. The city was painted rose gold, umber and bronze in the fading light. I was about to head home from wandering around Downtown Calgary with my son strapped to me in his carrier. It’d been a pleasant evening, just the two of us and my camera. But it was this moment, this lone streetlamp flickering on, heralding the end of another day, that stuck in my mind.
As fluorescent “open” signs turn off, shop keepers locked-up, and the briefcase carrying, suit-wearing population sped home, away from high-rises and looming deadlines, the city breathed. Relaxed. Came alive.
The light illuminated a place that no longer felt like a host to the daily grind, but a film where two strangers meet beneath a streetlamp. Perhaps they share a cigarette and a secret, heard only by the empty city and the setting sun.

This image is printed on archival-quality lustre (also known as pearl finish) paper, which beautifully showcases dark blacks and deep colours. The finish limits glare, and is perfect both framed or hung-up on its own.
For best results, please give prints a few days to flatten out completely before framing and/or hanging.
