It’s the tail-end of summer. Most of the vacationers, day-trippers and weekend revellers have packed up and headed back to reality. But not us. We are the hopefuls, the dreamers. Excited for off-season when Pine Lake is quiet, with only the occasional fishing boat whirring by.
There is a slight chill in the air, and the aspen leaves are beginning to turn from verdant green to gold. It’s the perfect time for an evening paddleboard with my mom. And what an evening we are treated to. It was like the sun wanted to put on one last show before giving way to the mood and mist of autumn.
Aside from the full-time residents that make their home in or out of the water, the muskrat, pike and mallard to name a few, we are the only two out on the lake. The light feels like a blessing as it touches our skin, and glows with the grace of a grande dame giving her final performance in an empty theatre; for she sings not for the pleasure of others, but for herself. And I’m reminded that Mother Nature is not beautiful because we are here to witness her. She needs no audience. She is just beautiful.

Quiet Sunset
This image is printed on archival-quality lustre (also known as pearl finish) paper, which beautifully showcases dark blacks and deep colours. The finish limits glare, and is perfect both framed or hung-up on its own.
For best results, please give prints a few days to flatten out completely before framing and/or hanging.
